I am excited about Monday's seminar featuring IT Security and Written Information Security Plans by Kevin McDaniel.  After serving in various executive roles within the manufacturing industry, Mr. McDaniel transitioned into his current Information Technology career.  Twenty-eight years later, his storied career includes 15 years working for two of Madison’s Fortune 500 companies, and 13 years running IT Strategies Group, through which he has aided some of the largest school systems in the country, four (4) Fortune 100, eleven (11) Fortune 500 companies, large and small non-profits, a number of local municipalities, worked within six (6) different branches of the federal government and thousands of small to medium sized businesses (SMB).  Mr. McDaniel’s areas of expertise are:

  • Helping organizations develop, implement, and internalize security programs that are right sized for the organization’s size, regulatory exposure, and risk tolerance. This may include obtaining SOC2, ISO27001, HiTrust, HIPPA and / or Written Information Security Programs (WISP) certification(s).
  • Assessing an organization’s current capability (what functions does the current environment provide both from a security and a functional operational perspective).  Helping the organization understand the gaps between what they currently have, and what is needed relative to security and general IT best practices.
  • Assessing an organization’s ability to recover in the event of a disaster or cyber event.  Creating net new or improving existing capabilities to give our client their best chance to positive outcomes.

Tuesday’s Seminar will be given by Bob Jennings on The Best 2023 Tax Planning and Retirement ideas for Individuals.

Give the very best tax advice to your individual and small business clients with TaxSpeaker’s newly updated planning guide! This course is designed to guide practitioners through dozens of old and new planning concepts and equip you with tools to help clients through unusual income years, long-term guidance for small businesses and high or low-income individuals. This rare instruction allows optimal tax and retirement planning rather than mere tax compliance. Whether you are a seasoned accountant looking for professional development or new to the tax preparation business, our instructors meet you where you are to fully benefit your clients, as well as yourself. We’ve included key updates from 2022 and 2023 Congressional and IRS changes, too! Overall, this course comprises three sub-topics: planning ideas for the W-2 taxpayer, planning for the small business owner, and planning for everyone. Each unit includes 15-30 planning tools, checklists, and example guidance illustrating the rules and tools needed to utilize the idea presented.

Consider participating in the entire convention.  You will not only understand more about the organization, but you get to interact on a social level with your peers.  The more active I have become in the organization, the more friends I have made and the more networking connections I have.  I am sure you will find it very rewarding personally and professionally.
