  •  There is not a full spousal program this year.  Spousal option only includes Wednesday Trolley Ride and Dinner Buffet, two continental breakfasts and Thursday night banquet.

   Join us as we kick off our 2021 annual convention with a Trolley Ride visiting a Winery/Distillery, Distillery and Brewhaus (tasting on your own).  We will board the trolley at 12:30 at Stone Harbor for a fun filled afternoon enjoying the winery, distillery and brewhaus in beautiful door county.  We will return to Stone Harbor around 5:30 to enjoy a dinner buffet.  After dinner, join us back in the hospitality suite. 

Thursday's seminar features Succession Planning with William and Sandy Silzer and Harlan Rose.  Ethics will be presented after lunch by Frank Cellini. Our annual meeting will be held at 3:00 pm. 

  • Succession Planning - We will define and highlight the importance of succession planning.  You will be able to understand what both emergency and routine succession planning needs are for family businesses, small business owners, partnerships, and small and large companies.  You will learn to recognize the key elements and identify barriers for successful succession planning and implementation. You will get to listen and learn from a true case happening.  We want all attendees to be prepared for succession in business. 
  • Ethics  - Nuts & Bolts & Protecting your clients data presented by Frank Cellini 

 Thursday night installation banquet has been changed to business casual dress. There will be a cash bar at 6:00 followed by dinner at 7:00 and installation of officers at 8:00.

Friday’s Seminar will be given by Terry Bakker from TaxSpeaker on Payroll- Hiring/Forms/Compliance; Crytpo currency and the Gig Economy; Debt Cancellation; and IRS Representation. 

  •  Our Payroll – Hiring, Compliance & Forms course begins with an analysis of whether an individual is an employee or a sub-contractor. We discuss Employee types, Required tax and record-keeping forms, Filing requirements, Withholding and deposit rules, and Payroll forms. 

  •   Crypto Currency and the Gig Economy-Updated for the changes made with the TCJA, Wayfair decision, and pronouncements by the IRS regarding tax treatments of cryptocurrency, vacation rentals, and foreign reporting, this course includes operational and tax aspects of the new economy including crypto-currencies, space/equipment sharing, short term rentals of vehicles and space, and many other emerging new business models.  
  • Debt Cancellation-In this course, you will learn about the different types of cancellation of debt, including the non-taxable transactions. In addition, there will be deep discussions on the exclusions to recognition of the cancellation of debt, and potential basis and credit reductions.  
  • IRS Representation: This class begins with a discussion on reading and understanding IRS notices, letters and transcripts, continues through an understanding of the IRS’ organization and how to run a representation case. We the discuss the types of examinations, Reviewing/challenging the document request(s), Minimizing the scope of the audit, and when to concede an issue and when to press on including consultation with other professionals, appeals, offers in compromise and other unique representation problems. Special attention is given to dealing with collections and enforcement actions such as liens, levies, seizures and garnishments and Installment agreements.

The hospitality room will be open after all the evening events with the WAA providing your favorite beverages.  Bring a snack to share!!!

Consider participating in the entire convention.  You not only understand more about the organization, but you get to interact on a social level with your peers.  The more active I have become in the organization, the more friends I have made and the more networking connections I have.  I am sure you will find it very rewarding personally and professionally.
